Secção que corresponde ao período da guerra civil, quando os liberais exilados na ilha Terceira e personalidades locais organizaram um governo provisório, cuja regência foi entregue ao Marquês de Palmela. Em 1832 ao regressar do Brasil, D. Pedro (IV) assumiu a regência e a defesa da causa liberal.
