"5th. and final picture.", "It shouldn't happen to a commoner, still less an HRH. But Princess Anne was soaked to the royal skin during this slight hitch at Windsor Horse Trials yesterday.

The Princess, riding her own horse Purple Star, was supposed merely to skirt the edge of a pond after the 13th. jump.

Instead, Purple Star dashed straight into the water, deeper and deeper, as Anne struggled to get him out.

'I suppose you're pleased with yourselves.' she told photographers who caught her out of her depth.

But Anne was not pleased with herself. She was not among the ten prize-winners in the open intermediat class, who received their awards from her father.

This series of photographs show princess Anne, taking the plunge at windsor yesterday, and coming out again to dry land."
